Well, Noodle is 10 weeks old!!! She is awesome - so funny and silly. She is also consistent - eat, poop, laugh, pee, eat, sleep, eat while sleeping, play on the mat, talk silly talk, eat, poop, eat, go for a drive to clam down, sleep, eat while sleeping, and sleep. That is her schedule. I hope she appreciates it - she's got a pretty sweet deal. I wish I could eat while I sleep - that would really save me a lot of time.
In other news, I am back at work (hooray!!!) and Nathan has officially taken over as our Manny. He is great at it - so patient and willing to sacrifice to help bring up our little baby girl. We really enjoy our evening drives - it is a great time for Nathan and I to have a mini-date and de-brief about our days and talk about what is on our minds with out feeling like we should be holding or paying attention to Noodle.
I know it has been a long time since I posted and I will get back in the saddle - I just gotta find my groove. I signed up for mobile posting (Blogger's response to Twitter I think) so you'll probably be seeing a lot of grainy cell phone pics soon.
Our anniversary is coming up - I can't wait to celebrate! We are hoping to go to the coast or something - Thank goodness we chose a non-event month...Pretty soon I will be crazy busy with sales.
That's all for tonight...xoxo The Christensens

pajamas
Do you ever wonder "when do women stop wearing cute nighties to bed and start sleepin fully clothed?" i mean like when you'd see a husband and wife on tv and she's got on the flannel long pants and the matching top and a cami underneath?!?
i used to wonder why that happened...well folks, now i know. Yep, babies. ya see when you have to get out of bed at 3am to get a new bottle you can't waste any time - especially on clothes. If all you are wearin to bed is your cami and some fancy undies or something you are gonna waste way too much time trying to will yourself out of bed when it's 3 am and chilly! Even with the full regalia of sweats, nursing bra, tee shirt and socks on, chances are at that time you've already waited too long to get out of bed anyways and you are teetering on the edge of whimpering and screaming ( oh yeah and your baby is too) so you need to be 100% ready to hop out of bed, trip over the laundry basket your 6 week old calls a bed, fumble with the doggy gate, burn your hand with water (don't call child protection, I got the right temp before i put it in the bottle) and make a new bottle... See if you are suited up from the get go, you might even be able to squeeze out a few extra seconds on something special - like going to the bathroom or brushing your teeth since you forgot to earlier.
But really, I do love my baby...I just get a little hot at night now, that's all.

Well, it is no secret that after baby, you body gets a little...Hmmm, lets call it funny. (I guess I think feeling like a squishy brick is funny - weird). Anyways - this blog is a shout out to my husband. While I feel like the bottom half of this commercial, when he tells me how beautiful and hott he thinks i am he makes me feel like the top of this commercial.
Thanks babe for making me a hott mom!!!

Brief Update
Well...Sevy is officially one month old!!! It has really been so much fun and the time has relatively quickly. I hesitated in saying that only because I hate it when people say/assume that it is such a bummer that time is going by so fast.Yes, someday I will long for the days and nights of tiny baby cuddles but honestly, the joy of having a baby is that you know that the love you give them will go with them as they grow up...We give Sev a lot of love so I am pretty excited to see what she will do and be as a real person.
The nights are not quite as long now, she sleeps at night instead of the day now. We still have to give her a bottle every few hours but she is much calmer in the evening and even sleeps in her basket.
For those of you who don't know, Sevyn does not sleep in her crib...No, she prefers a glorified wicker laundry basket with a pillow in it. It sounds a Little funny but it is adorable!
We have finished our Baby shower run...They were all so great! We had 4 showers and they were all fantastic...Between family members, my girlfriends, and my parents church, we really were showered with some of the most thoughtful gifts we have ever received. Thank you to Angie, Jan, Cimmy, and Carla for throwing us showers filled with love and generosity.
Back to Sevyn - she is amazingly hilarious...So many people were so quick to remind us that babys are so much work or that we'd never get out or that diapers are awful...Seriously folks, we have laughed our asses off at least twice every day since bringing her home. She is just so funny! She farts like a whoopee cushion, giggles in her sleep and make some really funny faces!
I have to again, just say "publicly" that Nathan is amazing. I truly could not do this with out him. He is my rock of emotional strength and encouragement. He does so much for both of us and always puts us first. And in the midst of all of that he still manages to tell me every day that he is the happiest he's ever been, with me and us and the baby! What a winner!
Well, in other news, I cancelled my smile box account due to technical difficulties so give me a couple of days - I am testing different sites for hosting pics and slide shows.
Well, Noodle wants her food - gotta go!

Scheduling Conflicts
It's funny how we've adapted to this so quickly and how fun it has been. It's not often you get to re-design the flow of your days and nights. In order to give you an accurate idea, I'll start at 1:30AM - right after Jimmy Fallon!
1:30am - Jimmy Fallon is over so I (Courtney) head to bed. Nathan has already brewed at least one pot of coffee at this point and is ready to stay up all night with the Noodle. I head to our room and pop in a movie to fall asleep to. I have to put a movie in, if I don't then I end up laying there listening for Sevyn's crys.
**From 1:30 to 6:30 or 7am, I sleep and Nathan keeps Sev from waking the neighbors while watching random shows on TV and purchasing lots of books for $2 on E-bay. It is amazing how awake he stays!
6:30 or 7am - Nathan wearily (and heroicly) strolls into our bedroom, he has a freshly diapered baby and a freshly made bottle. He drops off the Noodle and all her necessaries and passes out on the couch in the nursery. It is so nice of him to leave the bed for me and the baby, and it is hard to sleep around the baby sometimes because she is in and out of sleep at this time.
**From 6:30 or 7am to 2:00 or 2:30pm, Sevyn and I watch a movie (usually the same movie 3 times, so we can watch the begining the middle and the end, we fall asleep here and there) and we go through a couple of bottles and 2 diapers and Nathan gets the sleep he deserves!
2:00pm or 2:30pm - I get out of bed (OMG, I can't believe how weird that looks!!! It is not as glam as it sounds) and go wake up Nathan. Depending on how much spit up there has been through the morning, Sevyn and I either clean up in the tub or get a new bottle going while nathan wakes up.
3:30pm - Nathan and I put the noodle into the swing and relax together. Sometimes (ok most of the times) we watch a movie - what can I say, we love the movies - and sip coffee and eat something random. Today we had turkey sandwiches for "breakfast".
5:00pm - A few nights out of the week, I start dinner for the fam and Nathan hangs out with Sevyn or does the dishes. Lastnight he went to the store for us and got all the fixings for a full on awesome breakfast. Pancakes, Eggs, Bacon, OJ - the WORKS!
7:30pm - We hang out with the fam and start another couple pots of coffee!
After 9:30 things get a little fuzzy because it's getting late for me physcially but mentally I am wide awake and Nathan is just entering into his prime time so to speak... We have a really good time together during these times though - the Noodle is asleep for the most part and so Natha and I chat and laugh and watch any shows that we have recorded from eariler...And then it begins all over again...
I can't wait till we get our stroller - I am craving some outside time and we really like to just bum around together! Sometimes we go into town during the day - sometimes we have doctors appointments or we need milk and doughnuts (at 3am) or we just want to go somewhere.
It looks weird, and it sounds funny, but that is our life right now and we actually really really like it!!!

If you are a night owl or have some sort of DVR...
Watch the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon...It is hilarious and it's funny to think that this is our generations late show.
For a while I just thought I was not as comedy savvy as I thought I was (watching the other late shows) then I realized it was because my parents thought they were funny...That was their show, this is ours!
Go Jimmy Fallon - you are hilarious.
Also side note - I just did spell check and for the first time it said in bright green letters "No misspellings Found"...Killer!

Things we do while our baby cries (She has Colic)...
So last night, we went for a drive at 2am. Why? Well because sweet little Sevyn loves the car and falls asleep instantly when we go for drives! SO Nathan and I were playing 20 questions (one of our favorite games) and we were doing people (Sometimes we do people sometimes we do animals)...
Anyways, I was guessing and I was up to like 38 questions - I usually never get it within 20, Nathan is kind enough to allow me some extra questions - So all I knew was it was a woman, she was young, and a celebrity of some sort and she was blond...All the other questions I asked got me nowhere. Then Nathan said, "Maybe you should try to guess what makes me famous, that will help".
.
So I asked "Is she an actress?" He said "Sure"
.
I said "Is she a singer?" He Said "Sure"
.
I said "Is she considered good looking?" he said "Sure"
.
...Sigh - "This is getting me no where" I said. "This person is not famous for anything!"
.
"EXACTLY!!!" said Nathan...
.
It was Paris Hilton. Funny.

Baby Day! Feb 17th 2009
Well, she's here! Sevyn Cherise Christensen! She was born on February 17th, 2009 and weighed 8lbs 8oz and was 21inches long! Despite her size, it turns out she was early and spent her first 36 hours of life in the NICU because she couldn't breathe on her own. Her lungs didn't make a hormone needed to inflate them for the first time. She's all better now - And she is totally awesome!
The morning of February 17th was not like any other morning we've ever had! Here are the pics from it!
At this moment, I am cut openand have no clue! C-Sections are the greatest invention ever!
Here's our baby! Lookin good right off the starting block.
One of our nurses took all of the O.R. pictures - she got some great ones!
Here is Sevyn getting all weighed in and measured. Can you believe she is a new-be in this pic?
I know we are her parents but come on - you've never seen such a good looking kid 2 minutes out of mom!
Our first family picture...What a feeling! I think in addition to falling in love with Sev, I fell even deeper in love with Nathan - It's the craziest moment!
This was right before the took her into the NICU - I was a bit of a wreck for a little bit...I didn't get to see her for way too long after this. She did however get in some great daddy time. I was thankful for that!
And so, those are the first few moments of Sevyn's life and our new family's life!

5 Signs I am turning into a mom...
5. I find myself swiping the extra napkins from our lunches and folding them up and putting them into my purse (I did the same thing with saltine cracker packs the other day)
4. I downloaded Lullaby's onto my ipod...The kind that have bells and xylophones in them
3. We bought a Veggie Tales movie with our free movie coupon
2. We own more than 3 electronic devices capable of taking pictures and videos
1. I rinse my cereal bowl each morning and put it to the side to use again so that there is one less dish to do.

Helping out a Friend and the World
Hello family and friends! I am posting the following blog for a few reasons...
1. I believe in the cause it concerns
2. Becca is my friend and I like to help my friends
3. She is passionate about this and it is good for the world
Anyways...My friend Becca is going to be traveling to Cambodia in March to bike 300 miles...Why? Well, a short while ago, Becca became aware and passionate about one of the biggest problems in our world. Human trafficing. I have learned a lt about it from her and from the movie called "Holly" she had a showing of at her house...I believe that we all have an opportunity to make a difference in our world and there are a lot of good causes which is nice. I think a cause is made even greater when you are supporting a friend involved. Below is an email I received from Becca along with a web address you can visit. I know that she will appreciate any support - in prayer or monetary.

As you may have heard, I will be visiting Cambodia in March to participate in a 300-mile bike ride to help the millions of children that are currently victims of the sexual slave trade. My motivation to participate in this ride-a-thon comes from a book I recently read, The Road of Lost Innocence. The book is narrated by Somaly Mam, founder of the Somaly Mam Foundation, who was sold into prostitution herself at a young age. After reading and researching the plight of the many young children across the world and their "loss of innocence," I knew I wanted to help.
Human trafficking is an enormous criminal industry, second only to drug trafficking. Sex trafficking is just one facet of this problem. It is roughly estimated that 2-4 million children and young women are sold into sexual slavery every year. The sex trafficking industry affects more than just its victims. It leads to the breakdown of families and communities and contributes to the spread of many diseases, among other social problems.
I am participating in this ride with the Somaly Mam Foundation because they focus not only on rehabilitation of the young children they rescue, but they also educate the local villages and teach awareness around the world. In their 3 shelters in Cambodia they care for the children and young women by teaching them life skills that will help the girls provide for themselves. They are advocates for more stringent laws and enforcement of these laws to make it harder for perpetrators to commit crimes against the children. I am hoping that you might be willing to support me in this fight by donating to the Somaly Mam Foundation - any donation - no matter the amount will help. You can donate online by going to this website http://www.somaly.org/futures09/riders/bio.php?rider=Rebecca_Weidner, or donate directly through me.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
Thanks for your help,
Becca
P.S. I am paying for my trip to Cambodia. All donations go to the Somaly Mam Foundation to help support this important cause.

How we spend our Sundays
I know it's not Sunday today but our Sundays are typically pretty great! We wake up and Nathan goes to work and then we pack up and head out to mama-Jan's for a day of awesomeness!
This is how you do a Sunday right!

We actually ate both...ummm i guess you'd call them cans of cinnamon rolls - we paid the price later in the form of tummy aches and 5 hour naps... It was a small price to pay. I hate thinking about the day that will come when we will eat oat bran instead. Oh well, I guess that will also be the day we've been married for more that a year so I'm cool with it!
We went to the movies later - We LOVE the movies! This is our thank you card pic to the people that got us movie tickets for Christmas...Thanks guys!

This was - unfortunately one of the last movies we'll be going to. It turns out I can't sit for very long because Sevyn is kind of in the way.
Nathan posing for the camera - the funny thing is this is also how he looks right before he sneezes...Cool

We always share a root beer at the movies - and you'd think all that candy was for the pregnant lady but I actually snuck in a burrito from Baja Fresh...It was awesome!

I wasn't ever going to do this...
I am going to blog about work. After I found out that my husband was having dreams about my work I decided I was probably talking about it a little too much and so I told myself that work talk was off limits for the blog. However, I am making an exception. Just this once, and only because I believe it is good for the people to laugh...And if this doesn't make you laugh even a little, you are probably not much of a laugher to begin with which (consequently) means you could have high blood pressure due to stress...Get that checked out ok?
Anyways, I was in my department the other morning and I greeted a "typical" customer. She looked a little on the nutty side but hey, I sell socks with animals on them and magenta fedora hats so she could have needed what I had. She and I started discussing a red belt I have when she decided to try it on. She promptly took it off and said 'well sweetness, I only tried it on because you told me to..." Since I had not told her to try it on, I looked at her quizzically and she simply stated "Oh, I was just talkin to the holy spirit...Of course my psychiatrist doesn't think he exists so I don't know what I'm payin him for". (wow) at this moment another customer entered my department and I informed the lady that I was going to see if that customer needed help and she asked me if that was the only size I had in that belt. I briefly glanced at the lengths of the other belts and said a quick "yes" and darted over to the other customer. Well - apparently i was wrong because not 2 seconds later red belt lady came marching up to me and said, "You silly thing, there was another size...I hope your baby is smarter than you!" I then watched as she walked quickly into the next department and asked the salesperson for my name and then she went over to the shoe department. After procuring a pen and paper, she wrote the following note and asked the shoe manager to give it to me...
It states "Courtney (sp)? in accessories (sp)? receives and F-" and it is indeed signed "God"
It would indeed appear that not only is "God" unsure of the spelling of my name and the word "accessories" but she is also easily upset when it comes to the sizes available in a particular red belt... I will say in all honesty, had I known she was God, I would have looked twice at what belts we had...And then I would have looked twice at God and asked what the belt was for.

Adele Concert at Urban Wine Works Dec 2008
I Can't believe we forgot to post this in December! Nathan won us passes(I know, I am the luckiest girl ever!) from 105.1 The Buzz (radio station) to see Adele at Urban Wine works in Portland! It was amazing - There were maybe 150 people total there and it was just her and an acoustic guitar. The location was cool but they only put out like 20 chairs. We were in the back but seriously, the experience would have been the same either way.

Aparently Adele had booked this show before her appearance on Saturday Night Live - after that show aired, her songs went off the charts! We have really liked her music for a while but after seeing her on SNL, we realized what an amazing artist she really is (For you non SNL watchers, EVERYONE SUCKS when they do SNL but she was amazing!)
The venue was really pretty. This is us out front after the show. We were really exctied, not only to hear her sing but to get to hear her thoughts on her songs and what they mean and such. Well, to our shock, when she went to explain a song after singing it, we could barely understand her! Her accent is THICK! We had a giggle over that - it was amazing.
The show wasn't super long but Courtney was STARVING when it got over but we really wanted to meet her. We waited in line for about 20 minutes and even pulled the pregnancy card before we gave our camera to Cheryl Stewart (one of the 105.1 DJ's) and asked her to just go snap a pic for us.
Afterwards, we drove down to the waterfront where Nathan took us out for the BEST steak dinner ever! We went to Ruth's Chris Steak House and WOW, it was incredible.
